PYPL Q4’25 Conference Call Notes
PYPL Q4 2025 - What You Missed
Three things that matter from PYPL’s call:
1. CEO CHANGE EXPOSES EXECUTION CRISIS — Leadership turnover for performance, not strategy — Enrique Lores replacing Alex Chriss effective March 1 specifically for 'execution has not been what it needs to be' per Jamie Miller. This isn't strategic pivot, it's admission they can't deliver their own playbook.
2. BRANDED CHECKOUT COLLAPSE — 1% growth is the new 5%, 4-point deceleration in Q4 — Online branded checkout decelerated from 5% to 1% currency-neutral growth. Miller admits: 'we were too optimistic about how quickly we could drive change.' Translation: their Investor Day targets are dead.
3. ABANDONING 2027 TARGETS — No longer committing to specific multiyear outlook after 18 months — Explicitly dropping the 2027 framework from Investor Day. Miller: 'We are no longer committing to the specific outlook for 2027 we laid out at Investor Day.' That's a massive credibility hit.
